Do you like these?
Blue Topaz vs. Aquamarine vs. Blue Zircon, which one is better?
I’ve just bought a Blue Topaz a week ago because I want a gemstone that have a rich blue color. I picked Blue Topaz because Aquamarine gemstones are more expensive and yet the blue color is not deep enough. But when I went to my gemologist friend, he said it wasn’t a blue Topaz, it’s actually a blue Zircon. He told me that my gemstone have a good physical appearance and I can see a hint of green color under heavy white light without disturbing the rich blue color. Even when I took its picture with a camera I just can’t capture the green color, it can only seen by naked eye.
I just wondering, how good is it if I compare it with Aquamarine or blue Topaz? Should I be happy if my gemstone is actually a blue Zircon?
Blue Topaz is much prettier than either of those and it’s still pretty pricey in the high end stores, I bought my grandmother a 300 dollar necklace with blue topaz stones so I personally vote for blue topaz.
Can anyone help me with names of precious stones in derija(moroccan) dialect?
I would like the names of Ruby, Pearl, Diamond, Saphire, Aquamarine, Opal and any others you can remember.
Thank you very much!!
Have a blessed day!
Im sorry if I didnt make myself clear. I know the names in english and how they look like. What I wanted is the translation to derija!!
Thank you so much anyways!!
Have a blessed day!
Are you trying to describe them to somebody in Morocco so that they can buy them for you? I would suggest just telling them in French or in Standard Arabic. They might have special words for it in the dialect but something so standard like precious stones….I kind of doubt it.
And really, if they know French it’s pretty much the same for the most part but guys tend to be a bit more clueless there about these things. LOL
pls someone tell me the positive effects of wearing aquamarine birth stone?
Aquamarine Gemstone meaning
This is the stone to help you be in touch with your spiritual being. This stone is used in deep meditations.
Aquamarine is a blue-green stone that comes from Colombia and Brazil. It has been called "Water of the Sea", because of its color. The aquamarine is the stone of sailors, believing it would be protection for them on water. Folklore says the aquamarine will protect against gossip. It is also said the aquamarine will pick up spirits. It is an excellent stone to use for mediating.
Aquamarine is most powerful as a meditation stone, as it brings a great peace and serenity. Some people can meditate on an Aquamarine to receive the wisdom to see truth, but this is a very advanced meditation.
Healing properties of Aquamarine
Aquamarine is associated with the thymus gland. It is very soothing worn as a necklace. It will help reduce fluid retention. It has been used to calm the nerves.
The Romans used the aquamarine for diseases of the stomach, and believed it could cure liver and throat troubles.

Birthstone engagement rings,where to buy?
Ok,If you look at my last few questions you cna see that I have been trying to decide on what type of engagment ring I want to tell my boyfriend that I want.We are on a VERY tight budget.Im looking for somthing 100 dollars and lower.I finnaly came to an article about birthstone engagement rings, how they can be cheaper and have a more personal toutch. My stone is aquamarine and my boyfriends is diamonds.I think a ring with this mix will be perfect.I can’t seem to find a web site with these rings with in his budegt.Any web sites anyone know of that would offer these?Im looking for white gold and these stones.THANKS
You may have to settle for imitation stones instead of real ones. Can he afford some kind of monthly payment? Some jewelery stores have a layaway plan. You can’t get the ring until it’s payed off, but they will hold it for you until it is. Or you can try to get financing.
Some discount stores have layaway and jewelry too, like Wal Mart or K- Mart. They have rings in all price ranges.
how can i make a tee shirt dress like the one in aquamarine?
in aquamarine the mermade makes a bunch of different dresses using a tee shirt..on the dvd it shows you how she does it..but i cant find a link on line that shows it..do you know were i could find it?
I looked, and I don’t think there’s a link for it. But if you rewatch the movie, and make notes, you’ll probably be able to recreate it. I love those too! Good luck!!!
Im looking at a ring, and it says Simulated Aquamarine, Does that mean it’s a fake stone? Or what?
Yes, that’s what simulated means – fake.
Is JTV (Jewelry Televison) a safe/reliable place to buy gemstones?
Hi,
I’m in the market for an anniversary gift for my girlfriend. I happened to be up late last night, and flipping through the Comcast channels I came across a home shopping network called JTV (Jewelry Television). They were selling a parcel of about 12 "fissure-filled" rubies for about $50 bucks.
Common sense would say something is not right about that since the whole lot of them they were claiming was weighing in about 20 carats, yet you can’t even get a 1 carat ruby at Macy’s for less than like $600 bucks. Plus I had bought an aquamarine ring for her last year that I don’t even think would weighs a full carat, and I sepnt like $400 for it. But through this network I found like a 3 carat aquamarine for under $200 bucks.
I went onto their website ( http://www.jewelrytelevision.com/), and they claim they are largest importer of precious and semi-precious gemstones in the world. They claim their purchasing power and bulk shipments/lack of any middle-men enable them to charge so little.
I started reading up on different grades and treatment of gemstones… so I realize "fissure-filled" for example means they use glass or chemicals to "fill-in" cracks in otherwise unattractive and/or unmarketable gems. However even so I’m wondering now how I would even know whether I’d be getting the same thing anyway purchasing at a department store or a local jewlery store… (and paying like 10x’s the price)
Does anybody have any insight or knoweldge of this subject who could help steer me in the right direction? I’m tempted to buy some gemstones on their site and cast them myself elsewhere. Is this a wise investement, or would I be giving my girl something fake or synthetic?
Okay, I just checked out their website. The rubies they show are cloudy (full of inclusions and fractures) and, in many cases, the color is off. A quality ruby will be a deep red. Most of JTV’s are kind of purple.
Compare this JTV stone:

With this picture from a jewelry info site:

Just a bit of difference. JTV is much cheaper, but keep in mind they get to sift through what they have and they choose for you. Your chances of getting "aquarium gravel" (that’s what jewelers call poor quality stones like that) are really high. I’d go to a jeweler I can trust and he’ll let me choose my own stone.
