Has anyone ever been to Gem Mountain in North Carolina?

Posted by admin on August 23rd, 2009 and filed under aquamarine stone | 1 Comment »

Gem mountain is featured on the Travel Channel Show Cash and Treasure, where you can go and dig for aquamarines. I was just wandering if anyone has ever been there to dig and to see if it possible to make money off the aquamarines you find. I don’t if it would be worth the gas money, the cost of digging, and the cost of having the stone cut. Anybody know if it is worth it or not?

its worth it alright thats a great experience

Is your center stone a diamond?

Posted by admin on August 15th, 2009 and filed under aquamarine stone | 17 Comments »

Ok, I asked a question about a ring earlier this week. Everyone said my bf would be nuts to spend 9000.00 on a ring. The setting is 2700.00 (has two 1/2 cara diamonds on the side and another 1/2 carat in chips on the sides, the center stone is currently a CZ and is 1.33 carats). If he were to purchase a diamond to replace the CZ it would be an additional 6200.00. If we put a aquamarine in the center stone it will be an additional 2000.00 (estimated). So what I would like to know is what is your center stone? Did you chose to not go with a diamond for personal reasons or financial reasons? Do you still love your ring even though it is not a diamond?

My center stone is a 2 karat diamond. And I so don’t agree that your bf would be nuts to spend $9000.00 on a ring IF it’s in your budget. My fiance spent $24,000.00 on mine because it was in in our budget. He put it on credit but paid it off right away. I think people get jealous and that’s why they say he’s nuts to spend that on a ring. Only the two of you know your financial situation and you are the ones who can make that call.

I also really don’t agree what most people are saying — that they would have loved getting a plastic ring just as much. I think that’s a bunch of bull or EVERY woman would be walking around with a fake ring or a simple band with no stones. I’m not going to lie, I love my ring and would def. have been disappointed if it were fake or ugly or even smaller, but that’s because this ring is in OUR BUDGET. That just means the guy needs to be realistic and buy a ring within his budget. I think many girls think they’ll be viewed as shallow if they say what I just said, but the girls that say they couldn’t care less about their rings should have told their men to just buy them a plain band.

One of my good friends has a sapphire as her middle stone and it looks pretty. She loves it. Just don’t settle for a different stone if your heart is on a diamond. You won’t love your ring.
