Most jewelers would not want to work on a prefabricated ring. If it doesn’t come out the way you want it, they will be liable for modifications of the ring.

yeah, i’ve read about that before, and i’m not really sure if i believe in it or not.

i know that certain stones are supposed to have certain properties, like i think that aquamarine is supposed to aid in creativity, and i used to carry a small one around in my bag, just for good luck, but i don’t know if it really works or not.

I’ve worked in the jewelry industry for so many years and looking at the type of setting that you have there the answer is no. the setting you have is built for a 1.65 which is the size of the center stone and anything smaller then 1.50 will not fit. you see the head (the over all top that holds the center stone in) is built into the ring and cannot be taken out. this kind of head is nondetachable.

you should of asked if the ring came in a smaller carat size but other then that there is not much you can do here. you can possibly ask the jeweler to set the center stone as low as it can possibly go but thats it.

was this ring purchased online or can you actually go to their location to see if there are similar settings such as the picture with a head that can be changed to a 1 carat size.

i’ve included a picture to show you what i mean with a setting where the head isn’t built into the ring and can be changed for a larger or smaller head to accommodate whatever size stone you desire.
