Even though some dogs are quiet sorts, there are some that have something to say and don’t hesitate to say what’s on their mind. Most of the time the dog barking is to get your attention. And unfortunately you may be part of the cause. If your dog is barking and you angrily tell it to stop then the barking worked. You hear yourself yell “stop barking” or “be quiet”. What your dog hears is “I heard you barking, what do you want? Do you want to chat any more?” The best way to stop them is to leave the room. Like many other behaviors, the dog will figure out that his behavior does not get the result he wants and will give up.
