Training An Older Dog

Let me assure you that the old saying “can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ is not true. Many people, including myself, have adopted dogs from shelters or taken them in as strays. They may take a little longer, may need a few more repetitions but they can and will learn new things. It can even be easier with older dogs because they are not as curious or as easily distracted as young puppies.
Another thing to consider with dog obedience trainingand older dogs is physical shortcomings. Are they hard of hearing? They may have joint pain that prevents them from doing certain things. Knowing an older dog’s limitations and certain advantages will go a long way towards your dog’s successful training.
