Since the 1700’s peacoats were worn by men in naval service in Britain, America and Europe. The coats were designed to be used by men and are still used by men or fashion today. Originally made of wool the coats were warm and served the purpose of daily wear for every work occasion the navy would demand of its personnel Some of the coats were short and some were long but none were to long to be in the way when any fast movement was necessary. Today the length of the coat would be called “finger tip.”

The military look is back in fashion and the man wearing a pea coat is considered fashionable. Designers love the military look and use it whenever they can.
